The application of business excellence is more than just an attitude of running your organization. It is the application of quality management tools to help the business processes you use in achieving the goals of your organization. This is then measured by the Key Performance Indicators or KPIs.

To help apply the principles of business excellence, many different models have been devised. These are applied for self analysis purposes for improving the manner in which an organization conducts their daily business routines. The most popular model is the one developed by the US Government called the Baldrige Model. It has six main practices involved in its structure. These are self assessment, strategy formulation, visioning, project management, supplier management, and mergers.
